Telangana, 9 June 2025 – As part of the ongoing ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited various villages in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana and interacted with farmers on-ground.

During his visit to Mansonpally and Ramachandraguda, and later addressing farmers at Mangalpally in Ibrahimpatnam, Shri Chouhan praised the farmers of Telangana for embracing crop diversification and integrated farming, which have contributed significantly to enhanced productivity and income.

He remarked, “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy and farmers are its soul. The government's priority is to ensure prosperity for every farmer.” He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on completing the first year of his third term, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to agricultural transformation.

Shri Chouhan emphasized four core agricultural goals:

  1. National food security through grain reserves

  2. Fair pricing mechanisms for farmers

  3. Nutritious food supply for 1.45 billion Indians

  4. Sustainable agriculture and soil preservation for future generations

Highlighting the campaign’s impact, he shared that 2,170 teams consisting of over 16,000 scientists have been mobilized to bridge the gap between research labs and farmlands, tailoring solutions based on local soil and climate conditions.

Shri Chouhan stated, “The farmer is the true scientist.” He urged scientists to align research with the practical challenges faced by farmers and called for intensified efforts in millet promotion, expressing confidence in the Indian Institute of Millets Research in Telangana to play a global leadership role.

He also stressed the need for palm oil cultivation research in the state and appreciated progressive farming innovations in Ranga Reddy, such as intercropping of palm and papaya, floriculture, and nursery development. He cited a local farmer earning ₹3 lakh per acre as a testament to Telangana's agricultural potential.

Announcing key support measures, Shri Chouhan introduced the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), under which the central government will cover transportation costs for tomato, potato, and onion produce sold across states, along with improved storage infrastructure.

He reiterated that small and marginal farmers remain central to the government’s vision, with a focus on integrated farming models to boost income and resilience.

Concluding his address, he stated, “We are working tirelessly to implement policies that provide maximum benefit to our farmer brothers and sisters.”
