Empowering Change: Oakridge Bachupally's Student-Led Initiatives Making a Difference



Hyderabad, 19th October 2023: Oakridge International School Bachupally, a part of Nord Anglia Education, is committed to instilling values and life skills in its students by empowering them to create a positive impact on society. Through a trio of student-led initiatives, Periodt, Nutrify the Needful, and Eleos, Oakridge Bachupally students are fostering social change, learning vital life lessons, and strengthening their communities.


Periodt: Redefining Menstrual Hygiene

At Oakridge Bachupally, students Sahana, Sharraw, Parth, Shashank, and Reshma initiated the "Periodt" campaign, aiming to redefine menstrual hygiene norms and eliminate stigmas. Periodt ensures that all students have easy access to menstrual hygiene products.

Sahana, a Periodt team member, shared their mission: "Our goal is to create a world where menstruation is openly discussed, and hygiene products are readily available. Understanding and respecting menstrual hygiene is a crucial step towards achieving gender equality."


Nutrify the Needful: Nourishing Bodies and Souls

The "Nutrify the Needful" campaign, led by senior secondary students Aashish, Ganesh, Kedar, Hrithwik, Sahas, Tejas, Rahul, Shikhar, and Aditya, provides nutritious meals and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Their efforts reach many, from hospital drives to visits to old age homes.

Aashish from the team stated, "Our mission is clear: we want to make a meaningful difference in people's lives, one meal at a time. Through Nutrify the Needful, we are nurturing both bodies and souls."


Eleos: Lighting the Path to Education

The "Eleos" team, consisting of Neha, Tanisi, Varuni, and Chytrita, focuses on empowering underprivileged children through education in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. Their recent visit to a government school offered educational support and encouragement to young minds.


Neha, a driving force behind Eleos, passionately explained, "Education is a beacon of hope, and through Eleos, we are illuminating the path to a brighter future for these children. It's not just about academics; it's about empowering them to dream big."


Varuni added, "Investing in education is an investment in a brighter, more equitable future for all. We are breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality through technology and education."

Fiona, CAS Coordinator and Social Impact Lead at Oakridge Bachupally, highlighted the school's social purpose: "Oakridge International School Bachupally is dedicated to developing intellect, character, and empathy in students. Their initiatives, such as Periodt, Nutrify the Needful, and Eleos, showcase their commitment to making a lasting impact on those they serve."
