Hyderabad, June 9, 2026: Telangana is adopting a strategic and sustainable approach to industrial development with the goal of emerging as a model State for the country, said Information Technology and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
Addressing the FTCCI Excellence Awards 2026 organized by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) at the JRC Convention Centre, Jubilee Hills, on Tuesday, the Minister highlighted the State government's commitment to promoting environmentally responsible industrial growth while making significant investments in innovation, skill development, and industrial infrastructure.
He stated that Telangana is strengthening its leadership in key sectors such as Information Technology, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, and Deep-Tech. To meet the challenges posed by automation and emerging technologies under the Industry 4.0 framework, the government is building a comprehensive industrial ecosystem that supports innovation and future-ready industries.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainability, Mr. Sridhar Babu said that industrial growth in the coming decades would increasingly depend on innovation, intellectual property, and the knowledge economy rather than solely on land and capital. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between industry and academia to bridge skill gaps and prepare a workforce equipped for future demands.
Highlighting the government's focus on skill development, he referred to the establishment of the Young India Skills University, which aims to provide industry-relevant training and create a highly skilled workforce to meet evolving industry requirements.
The Minister reiterated that attracting investments and creating employment opportunities for local youth remain key priorities of the government. He also noted that efforts are underway to promote industrial growth beyond Hyderabad, ensuring balanced and inclusive regional development across Telangana.
Speaking about support for small businesses, Mr. Sridhar Babu said Telangana has introduced a dedicated policy for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), describing it as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country. He added that pending industrial subsidies due since 2017 are being released in a phased manner, while minimum wages have been finalized after consultations with all stakeholders.
Stating that entrepreneurs are valued partners in Telangana's development journey, the Minister said the government remains open to industry feedback and suggestions to further strengthen the State's industrial ecosystem. He assured continued support to innovators and entrepreneurs whose ideas and technologies contribute to economic growth and employment generation.
FTCCI representatives Ravi Kumar, K.K. Maheshwari, Srinivas Garimella, Bhaskar Reddy, Anil Agarwal, and other industry leaders were present on the occasion.
