Serum Institute of India Launches Nationwide HPV-Cancer Awareness Campaign

Hyderabad, 24 July 2025 — As part of a nationwide public health effort, the Serum Institute of India (SII) launched the “Conquer HPV & Cancer Conclave 2025” in Hyderabad to address the growing burden of HPV-related cancers.
India reports over 1.23 lakh new cervical cancer cases and 77,000+ deaths annually, according to the ICO/IARC 2023 data. HPV is also linked to 90% of anal cancers, 63% of penile cancers, and other cancers affecting both men and women.
The Hyderabad panel featured top medical experts:

Dr. S. Sudha (TX Hospital, Excell Hospital)
Dr. Nivalika Rajamoni (Yashoda Hospital)
Dr. M. Surendranath (Vijay Marie Hospital)
Dr. K. Pavan Kumar (Omega Clinics, Lotus Hospital)
Moderated by Prof. M. Tripura Sundari (KIMS, Indian Menopause Society), the discussion emphasized early vaccination, public awareness, and timely preventive care.
“With our HPV vaccine Cervavac, we aim to protect both boys and girls from multiple cancers. These conclaves will help drive awareness and informed decision-making,” said Parag Deshmukh, Executive Director, SII.
The conclave concluded with open discussions involving the audience, strengthening community engagement for cancer prevention. The campaign will continue in other cities nationwide.
