NABARD’s eight-day Grameen Bharat Mahotsav Inaugurated

Hyderabad, 8th October 2025:The 12th Edition of NABARD’s Grameen Bharat Mahotsav, organized by NABARD’s Telangana Regional Office, Hyderabad, was inaugurated by Smt. Harichandana Dasari, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate, Hyderabad, in a colourful ceremony held at Kamma Sangham, Ameerpet, Hyderabad.
The Grameen Bharat Mahotsav, an initiative of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), is a vibrant celebration of India’s rural creativity, craftsmanship, and enterprise. The eight-day national exhibition-cum-sale brings together master artisans, weavers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and rural entrepreneurs from across the country, showcasing the essence of India’s cultural and economic diversity.
Blending heritage with opportunity, the Mahotsav provides a dynamic platform where tradition meets modern markets. It empowers rural producers, promotes sustainable livelihoods, and fosters meaningful connections between artisans and customers across regions.
An exclusive Geographical Indication (GI) Pavilion was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest, featuring 53 stalls from artisans and entrepreneurs across India, with 44 exceptional products representing the unique craftsmanship and identity of their respective States.
Shri R. Ganapathy, General Manager, NABARD, welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Harichandana Dasari, IAS, praised NABARD’s pivotal role in providing platforms to highlight rural India’s talent. She suggested that NABARD and the National Academy of Construction collaborate for skill development in rural areas and proposed the creation of a “Grameen Tag” to certify genuine artisan products. She also appreciated the role of bankers in promoting skill development and emphasized tapping into the growing global demand for Indian rural products.
In his opening address, Shri B. Uday Bhaskar highlighted that India’s villages are living museums of culture and craftsmanship, each telling a story of legacy and identity. He noted that NABARD, as India’s premier development financial institution, has been empowering artisans, SHGs, and rural entrepreneurs for over four decades through skill development, financial support, and market linkages, and that this Mahotsav is another milestone in that mission.
A Product Catalogue featuring the exquisite products on display was released by the Chief Guest during the event.
