Minister Thummala Inaugurates Handicrafts Exhibition in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, November 3, 2025: A vibrant Handicrafts Exhibition showcasing India’s rich cultural and traditional heritage was inaugurated today by Sri Thummala Nageswara Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Handlooms & Textiles, Government of Telangana, at the HMDA Grounds, Hyderabad.
Organized by the Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the exhibition features around 150 stalls from various states across India, displaying a wide range of handicraft and handloom products.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Thummala emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional handicrafts, which are gradually disappearing. He stated that with the cooperation of the Central Government, the State is taking initiatives to create livelihood opportunities for artisans.
The Minister suggested that such exhibitions and handicraft outlets be promoted at key locations like temples, airports, and railway stations to increase visibility and sales of handcrafted products.
As part of the program, the Minister honoured 11 outstanding handicraft artisans with State-Level Awards for the year 2024–25 in recognition of their exceptional skill and contribution to the field.
The event was attended by Sri Naidu Satyanarayana, Chairman, Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation; Smt. Shailaja Ramaiyar, Principal Secretary, Handlooms & Textiles; and Smt. Suvarchala Rani, Assistant Director, among other dignitaries.
