Hyderabad, 19th March, 2019 : Continental Hospitals accomplished a milestone by successfully completing 100+ Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Surgeries which is considered as one of the most successful surgical interventions for Hip Joint Arthritis, as it effectively relieves pain and morbidity considerably.
Anterior Hip replacement surgery is a part of the recent trend and the Hospital has announced that it has successfully completed 100+ surgeries of this type which uses smaller and less-invasive surgical approaches.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Nitish Bhan who takes the credit of completing this milestone achievement said, “The idea of this approach is to perform the procedure with less disruption to the surrounding muscles and soft-tissues”. As it is performed through smaller incisions and with less soft-tissue dissection, it results in less blood loss and patients recover quicker. A cane or walker can be discontinued faster and an easier return to normal life is possible, he added.
Dr Nitish highlighting the advantages of the proponents of the surgery said, “Patients typically experience less pain after the surgery and can bend at the hip and bear weight soon after the procedure. This approach also avoids cutting of major muscles. Most people who undergo traditional hip replacement surgeries are asked to avoid sitting with legs crossed for about 8 to 10 weeks but this approach paves way for a better range of movements. Patients may bend over and sit with legs crossed without risking hip dislocations.”
Congratulating and complimenting Dr Nitish Bhan Mr. Faisal Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer, Continental Hospitals said, “We are privileged and proud to have Dr Nitish Bhan with us. We are honoured with his impeccable achievement. AMIS requires specialization in joint replacement and substantial number of cases to master the technique. Continental Hospital is the only Hospital in South India which does AMIS surgeries with our in-house doctors. We wish many more such milestones for Dr. Nitish Bhan”
