Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Hon'ble Minister for Handlooms and Textile inaugurated "Crafts & Textiles Mela" At NTR Stadium Hyderabad


Hyderabad, February 28, 2025 : Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (TGHDC Ltd.), a State Government Undertaking, is hosting the much-awaited "Crafts & Textiles Mela" at the NTR Stadium Telangana Kalabharathi, near Indira Park, Hyderabad, from February 26, 2025, to March 9, 2025. The event, a collaboration with NABARD, brings together artisans and weavers from across India, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Telangana and beyond.


Set up in 2015 under the Companies Act, 2013, TGHDC Ltd. has been working towards the promotion, development, and marketing of artistic handicrafts and textiles, benefitting over one lakh craftspersons across the state of Telangana. The Corporation organizes various marketing events, including Craft Bazaars and exhibitions, providing a platform for artisans to display and sell their products.


The "Crafts & Textiles Mela" features a wide variety of handicrafts and handlooms, including Dokra Castings, Cherial Paintings, Bidi Crafts, Brass Castings, Lacquer Ware, Bamboo Crafts, Hand Embroidery, Terracotta Pots, Jute Products, and Banjara Embroidery, among others. Visitors can also explore an array of handloom products like Pochampally Sarees, Siddipet Gollabama Sarees, Mahadevpur Sarees, and many more, representing the rich textile culture of India.

"Crafts & Textiles Mela" inaugurated on February 28, 2025, by Sri Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Hon'ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, in the presence of Sri Satyanarayana, Hon'ble Chairman, TGHDC Ltd., Smt. Shailaja Ramaiyer IAS, VC & Managing Director, TGHDC Ltd., Principal Secretary to Government, Industries & Commerce Department, and Sri B. Uday Bhaskar, Chief General Manager, M/s NABARD TS.


The Corporation will also honor 11 skilled artisans with the prestigious State Awards for their exceptional contributions to the craft industry. These artisans will receive cash prizes ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 20,000, along with a shawl and certificate of recognition.
