Hyderabad, September 08, 2025 – IACG Multimedia College, Hyderabad, the pioneer in offering Graduation and Post-Graduation Programs in Multimedia in India, will sign and exchange a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyoto Seika University, Japan, the world’s first and leading university to offer Manga and Anime courses. The signing will take place in the presence of Sri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Government of Telangana, at T-Hub, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.

The MoU will be exchanged between Mr. Rama Krishna Polina, Founder & Managing Director, IACG Multimedia College, and Mr. Shin Matsumura, Director, Centre for Research on Contemporary African and Asian Cultures, Kyoto Seika University. This was disclosed by Dr. Suresh Madiraju, CEO & Principal, IACG, and Mr. Chaitanya CH, Head Academics, IACG, at a press meet held at FTCCI, Red Hills.

The key outcomes of the MoU are:  the student & faculty exchange programs between India and Japan, Industry-Academia Linkages to bring global best practices into Telangana. Also, Outsourcing & Talent Opportunities facilitated by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) and Global Placements for Telangana-trained talent in the Manga & Anime sector. This MoU is a win-win for both the institutions and their stakeholders, Mr. Chaitanya added.

Japan leads the world in animation, accounting for over 60% of global animation consumption. The Anime industry alone is valued at USD 25+ billion, with over 1,000 new Manga titles and 300+ Anime seasons produced every year. However, Japan faces an acute shortage of skilled manpower, with studios booked years in advance. This has opened doors for global talent partnerships—a gap Telangana aims to fill through this collaboration.

Anime production budgets are 10 times higher than U.S. animation projects, underlining the economic opportunity for Telangana to attract investment, employment, and outsourcing projects in this high-value sector.

“With Hyderabad’s thriving IT ecosystem and rapidly growing creative industries, Telangana is uniquely positioned to become a global hub for next-generation Manga and Anime talent,” said Dr. Suresh Madiraju.

“JETRO will actively facilitate partnerships, placements, and outsourcing linkages with Japanese studios. This MoU is a big step in positioning Telangana as a creative talent export hub for Manga and Anime,” added Mr. Rama Krishna Polina

The collaboration also involves Young India Skill University, Hyderabad, which will contribute to securing foreign placements for Indian creative aspirants. Together, IACG, Kyoto Seika University, JETRO, and partner studios aim to bring international expertise, local execution, and global outreach, creating jobs and investments while building Telangana’s global creative leadership.
