Telangana IT and Industries Minister Inaugurates HIPLEX 2026, India’s Third-Largest Plastics Expo

Hyderabad, August 7, 2026: Telangana Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, Industries & Commerce D. Sridhar Babu called the plastics and polymers sector a key engine of India’s economic growth and urged industry stakeholders to work with the government to make Telangana a leading hub for plastics and polymer manufacturing.

The Minister inaugurated HIPLEX 2026, South and Central India’s largest plastics exhibition and India’s third-largest plastics expo, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, on Friday. Organised by the Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAAPMA), the four-day exhibition features more than 550 exhibitors and is expected to attract over 55,000 business visitors from India and abroad.

Addressing industry leaders and exhibitors, Sridhar Babu said the plastics and polymers industry supports almost every manufacturing sector and provides employment to millions of people. He assured the industry of continued support from the Telangana Government and said the State would work towards creating a stronger ecosystem for plastics and polymer manufacturing.

"The Telangana Government is your partner in progress. Your success is our success. Whenever policy intervention is required for the betterment of the industry, the Government will stand with you," he said.

Highlighting Telangana’s industrial growth in IT, electronics, pharmaceuticals, GCCs, defence and aerospace, the Minister said the State now aims to replicate this success in the plastics and polymers sector, with greater focus on innovation, sustainability and green manufacturing.

Dr. Raju Desai, President, Plastindia Foundation, said India’s plastics industry has grown into a ₹4.5 lakh crore industry and is expanding at 6–9% annually. The industry employs nearly 55 lakh people, while plastics exports are expected to cross ₹1.4 lakh crore this year. He added that India recycles nearly 60% of the plastics it consumes, placing the country among global leaders in plastic recycling.

Arvind Mehta, Chairman, Governing Council, AIPMA, said the industry must focus on exports, technology adoption, skill development and sustainability to strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing base.

Anil Reddy Vennam, Senior Vice President, AIPMA, called for a dedicated Plastics Park with world-class infrastructure and a 250-acre Recycling Cluster with a Common Effluent Treatment Plant to support MSMEs and recycling industries.

HIPLEX 2026 features live demonstrations of advanced processing machinery, recycling systems, bio-polymers and next-generation polymer technologies. A dedicated Recycling Pavilion showcases how discarded plastics can be converted into products such as roads, railway sleepers, furniture, construction materials and garments.

Spread across seven exhibition halls covering more than 26,000 square metres, HIPLEX 2026 will remain open until August 10, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm each day.
