Hyderabad, April 20th, 2026: The Professional Voice Care Society of India was formally launched at Virinchi Hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday, coinciding with the observance of World Voice Day. The initiative aims to promote awareness, research, and specialized care for individuals who rely extensively on their voice.
Veteran actor and former Member of Parliament Murali Mohan, who attended as the chief guest, described the human voice as a rare and precious gift. He stressed the need for individuals to take responsibility for maintaining vocal health. Highlighting its significance in professions such as acting and politics, he noted that a strong voice contributes to confidence and identity, while voice-related issues can affect self-assurance.
Renowned singer and Nandi Award recipient S.P. Sailaja underlined the critical role of vocal health for artists. She stated that a healthy voice is essential for expressing emotions effectively and sustaining a career in music. She also welcomed the establishment of specialized voice care facilities, calling them a source of reassurance for professional singers.
The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. V. Phanindra Kumar, Founder of the Association of Voice Surgeons of India. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Phanindra Kumar explained that the human voice is made possible by a unique structure known as the vocal ligament. He advised avoiding smoking and alcohol to protect the vocal cords and recommended maintaining hydration by consuming 8–10 glasses of water daily.
He further emphasized that symptoms such as persistent hoarseness or changes in voice should not be ignored, as many conditions can now be treated effectively through advanced techniques, including phonosurgery.
The event was attended by key representatives from Virinchi Hospitals, including Vedula Satyanarayana, COO Shyam Daval, and Dr. V. Subrahmanyam, along with other distinguished guests.
The organizers stated that the Professional Voice Care Society of India will focus on training programs and research initiatives for professional voice users such as singers, teachers, and lawyers, with the goal of enhancing awareness and promoting excellence in voice care.
