Hyderabad, 26 July 2024: On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Lulu Hyderabad celebrated Lulu Vijayotsavam in association with the Indian Army. This momentous event commemorated the valour and sacrifice of our brave soldiers who fought and marked India’s triumph on 26th July 1999 at Kargil.
It is a moment to reflect on the indomitable spirit and courage displayed by our armed forces during the Kargil War of 1999, a testament to their unwavering dedication and resilience.
As a part of commemorating the important day, Lulu Hyderabad organized three-day long arms and ammunition exhibition (starting from 26th July to 28th July 2024) for school students and the general public proudly presented by the Indian Army in the Lulu Atrium.
On the occasion, Lieutenant General Kammula R. Rao PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Rtd) spoke and briefed the efforts made by the Great Indian Armed Forces at Kargil on the battle front. He elucidated that, during the war, the single aim was only to remove the infiltration by Pakistan intruders and safeguard our country and yet not escalate to a full-fledged war.
He emphasized that the strategy and war tactics adopted by the Armed Forces during the war were unique and needed lot of ingenuity. He also focused on the defence force’s strength, courage and the indomitable spirit of the Indian soldier during the two-month long war period on the battlefield which is unparalleled. Officers too made the supreme sacrifices and always lived up to the Chetwode Motto of “SERVICE BEFORE SELF”.
During the event, Col V.V. Rao (Rtd), paid tributes to the valour and devotion beyond the call of duty. He threw light on the history of Kargil, why & how the war was started and what was the strategy of the Pakistanis. During the speech, he applauded the efforts of Lulu Hyderabad to organise a memorable event on this special day.
Indian AirForce Group Captain PR Prasad (Rtd) emphasized the importance of Jointness and role of IAF in achieving Victory in such inhospitable terrain. He articulated challenges to fly over high altitude areas. He explained what it means fly over 18,000 ft on the Himalayas. He also expressed appreciation towards the management for organizing this event.
As we observe the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, let us unite in gratitude and remembrance, pledging to uphold the ideals for which they fought and sacrificed. Their bravery in the face of adversity will continue to inspire us as we strive for a safer and stronger India.
