Indian High Commissioner visits religious places in Sri Lanka, prays for cordial relations



Hyderabad, February 20th, 2024: India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha began his visit to the Northern Province during which he visited several religious places and prayed for cordial relations between the two countries.


The High Commissioner visited Ram Setu and also visited a temple, which has been renovated with grant assistance from India. He also visited a renowned local church, where India is expanding infrastructure for pilgrims.


Apart from trade relations, India and Sri Lanka have a long history of strong cultural and religious ties dating back to ancient times. This religious visit of the Indian High Commissioner has further strengthened this ancient shared heritage between the two countries.


The Indian High Commission in Colombo wrote on the social media platform 'X', "High Commissioner Santosh Jha started his visit to the Northern Province by taking blessings at the historic Madhu Church. He prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the people of India and Sri Lanka. India is expanding infrastructure facilities for pilgrims to the church.”


"Underlining the shared heritage and strong cultural bonds between India and Sri Lanka, High Commissioner Santosh Jha visited Ram Setu and prayed for the well-being of the people of India and Sri Lanka and India-Sri Lanka relations" the High Commission wrote in another post.


The Indian Mission said the High Commissioner offered prayers at the ancient Tirukethiswaram temple, which has been renovated with grant assistance from India.
