IEEE Industry Conclave - Translational Research to Entrepreneurial Ventures Concludes Successfully

Hyderabad, October 25, 2024 : The IEEE Industry Conclave on Translational Research to Entrepreneurial Ventures, organized by the Industry Relations Committee of IEEE under the leadership of Dr. VSK Murthy Balijepalli, concluded successfully today at the Hotel Tourism Plaza, Begumpet, Hyderabad. This event, held with support from IEEE Hyderabad Section, IEEE R10 ACEI, and IEEE WIE AG, assembled distinguished leaders from academia, industry, and government, all driven by a shared mission to transform academic research into impactful industry applications.

The Chief Guest for the event, J. Sravan Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary to the Government of India and a 2014 batch IAS officer, inaugurated the proceedings with an inspiring keynote. He emphasized the government’s dedication to strengthening industry-academia collaboration through initiatives such as Start-up India and the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI), both designed to bridge gaps and foster research with practical societal benefits.

Y. Vijayalatha, Chair of IEEE Hyderabad Section and a prominent figure within the IEEE India Council, delivered a Special Address commending the event’s vision. She emphasized the critical role these collaborations play in driving innovation and ensuring research is channeled into valuable applications that benefit society.

The speaker lineup featured leading voices in the field, including Dr. VSK Murthy Balijepalli, CEO of LUCES Innovation Consulting (LIC) and Chair of Industry Relations for IEEE Hyderabad Section, who spoke on the potential of partnerships to transform research into solutions that serve community needs. N. Venkatesh, Senior Director of Engineering at Silicon Labs, highlighted technology entrepreneurship and the importance of nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit within academic institutions.

Other distinguished dignitaries included T. Jagath Reddy, Ex-Director at TSTRANSCO, Telangana, and Celia Shahnaz, Chair of IEEE WIE, both of whom underscored the importance of bridging academia and industry to develop innovative, impactful solutions for societal progress.

Esteemed academicians such as Prof. Gururaj from IIT Kanpur and Prof. Kumudini from IISc Bangalore also joined the event, contributing valuable insights to discussions on fostering partnerships that enhance research relevance and innovation.

Panel discussions and roundtable sessions delved into essential themes, such as technology transfer, entrepreneurial challenges, and strategies to support academia-industry collaborations. These sessions equipped participants with actionable strategies to drive innovation and address sectoral challenges in fields like energy, healthcare, and technology.
