Hyderabad, August 25th, 2023: the E-20 Summit & International Conference focused on achieving net zero emissions within the industrial sector in the G20 was officially launched. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Engineering Staff of India in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, and was graced by the presence of Dr. Tamilisai Sounderarajan, the Governor of Telangana State.
This significant event is dedicated to spearheading efforts to reduce carbon emissions within the industrial sector. It encompasses a wide range of crucial elements including comprehensive strategies, the adoption of low-carbon energy, educational initiatives, public engagement, and fostering global cooperation. Throughout the conference, esteemed industry experts from India and G20 nations will engage in enlightening dialogues.
The welcome address was delivered by Er. Shivanand Roy, who urged the Governor to advocate for the integration of E-20 Summit deliberations and outcomes into the G20 framework. Dr. Tamilisai Sounderarajan, in her address, commended the Indian Institute of Engineers for taking the lead in organizing a conference centered around the pressing topic of achieving net zero emissions. She expressed optimism that the conference discussions would yield actionable solutions. The Governor stressed the importance of individual contributions towards achieving net zero, including conserving water, air, refraining from polluting the environment, and adopting renewable energy sources and electric vehicles. She affirmed that the outcomes of the E-20 Summit would be incorporated into the G20 agenda. She extended her best wishes for the success of the technical sessions scheduled over the next two days.
Er. Surya Prakash provided an overview of the technical sessions for the benefit of the attendees. The program saw participation from international delegates representing G20 nations, members of the IEI council, delegates from various Indian organizations and companies, as well as the staff of ESCI.
