GOLKONDA CRAFTS & TEXTILES MELA INAUGURATED AT HYDERABAD

Hyderabad, January 6, 2026: The “Golkonda Crafts & Textiles Mela”, jointly organized by the Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (TGHDC) and NABARD, was inaugurated today at NTR Stadium (Telangana Kalabharathi), near Indira Park, Hyderabad.
The mela was inaugurated at 4:00 PM by Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, in the gracious presence of Sri Naidu Satyanarayana, Hon’ble Chairman, Smt. Shailaja Ramaiyer, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Telangana and Vice-Chairperson & Managing Director, TGHDC Ltd., and Sri B. Uday Bhaskar, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Telangana.
Telangana Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, a State Government undertaking established in 2015 under the Companies Act, 2013, is committed to the promotion, development, and marketing of artistic handicrafts and handloom textiles, and to the welfare of more than one lakh artisans across Telangana.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of preserving India’s traditional crafts and providing sustainable marketing platforms for artisans. The Golkonda Crafts & Textiles Mela, being held from 05 January to 14 January 2026, aims to popularize the rich handicrafts and handlooms of Telangana and other regions while creating direct market access and future trade linkages for artisans.
Around 130 artisans and weavers from across India are participating in the mela, showcasing a wide variety of traditional and contemporary products. Several more craft and textile items from different regions of the country are also on display-cum-sale.
