DigiLocker to Be Linked with UAE Platform, Opening New Employment Opportunities for Indian Youth.

Hyderabad, July 24, 2026:The growing strategic partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has received fresh momentum on the economic and education fronts. The 7th meeting of the India-UAE Joint Consular Affairs Committee (JCCA) was held in New Delhi on July 22. The most significant and far-reaching outcome of the high-level meeting is expected to open up better economic and educational opportunities for Indian professionals, students, and workers in the Gulf region.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, "The meeting was co-chaired by Smt. Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary (CPV & OIA) and H.E. Mr. Omar Obaid Mohammed AlHesan AlShamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE. India and the UAE enjoy warm and cordial relations that cover all facets of bilateral cooperation, including in the economic, political, defence, technology, cultural, and energy domains,and are anchored in the strong people-to-people ties underpinned by the 4.5 million strong Indian community in the UAE.

The Ministry further stated, "The JCCA meeting was preceded by technical-level discussions between the two sides on consular issues, labour & mobility related issues and extradition & mutual legal assistance. A separate meeting took place between the two sides to work towards integrating India’s Digilocker with the UAE platforms for seamless authentication of Indian academic degrees/documents, which will benefit Indian professionals working in the UAE and facilitate greater economic and educational opportunities.

This landmark initiative is expected to free Indian professionals seeking employment in the UAE from lengthy and costly administrative procedures for the physical verification of documents. With academic degrees being verified digitally, Indian youth are likely to gain faster access to employment opportunities and career advancement in the UAE's global corporate sector.

The agreements reached between the two countries will not only strengthen the legal protection available to the Indian workforce but also enhance ease of doing business between India and the UAE. The initiative is expected to serve as a milestone in making India's skilled workforce a secure and respected partner in the UAE's growth story.
