Hyderabad, 16 April 2026: KIMS Sunshine Hospital has announced the introduction of the advanced ZEISS KINEVO 900, marking a major advancement in precision-driven neurosurgery. This state-of-the-art technology is expected to significantly enhance safety, accuracy, and outcomes in complex brain and spine procedures. Currently, such advanced systems are available only in a limited number of centers across India.
The ZEISS KINEVO 900 integrates robotics, high-definition imaging, and intelligent features to support surgeons during intricate procedures. This approach, known as cobotics (collaborative robotics), enables surgeons to operate with greater precision and confidence.
Key features such as PointLock and Position Memory allow surgeons to maintain consistent focus on delicate surgical areas. The robotic arm ensures smooth and stable movements, enabling effective operation in small and sensitive regions while also reducing fatigue during long-duration surgeries.
The system is equipped with advanced imaging technologies, including ICG fluorescence imaging for real-time visualization of blood flow—particularly useful in vascular neurosurgery—and tumor fluorescence to help distinguish tumor tissue from healthy brain tissue, aiding in maximum safe resection. With 3D and 4K visualization, the entire surgical team can observe procedures with exceptional clarity. Additionally, the QEVO micro-inspection tool enables visualization of hidden anatomical areas, further improving surgical safety and completeness. Integrated navigation support and real-time data enhance overall surgical accuracy.
The cobotic microscope was inaugurated by Dr. A. V. Gurava Reddy, Chairman – Sunshine Bone & Joint Institute and Managing Director – KIMS Sunshine Hospitals. A press meet was held on Thursday at the hospital premises in Begumpet.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon & Spine Surgeon, highlighted the transformative impact of cobotic technology in improving surgical precision and patient outcomes. Dr. C. H. Gopal, Senior Consultant Neuro Physician, emphasized the role of advanced imaging in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
The event also witnessed participation from the Neurosciences team of KIMS Sunshine Hospitals, including Dr. Mohana Shashank Deevi, Dr. Vinod Kumar, and Dr. Niveditha Sai Chandra, who shared insights into the hospital’s vision of adopting cutting-edge technologies and strengthening team-based care for improved patient outcomes.
