Apollo Hospitals Marks World Transplant Day with “A Key That Opens New Hope – Celebrating the Gift of Life”

Hyderabad, June 7, 2026: Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad commemorated World Transplant Day by organizing a special awareness program titled “A Key That Opens New Hope – Celebrating the Gift of Life” at a city hotel on Saturday. The event aimed to promote awareness about organ donation and transplantation, highlighting the life-saving impact of organ donors and transplant recipients.


Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Sreebhushan Raju, Professor and Head of Nephrology at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.


Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharath Putta, Head of the Department of Liver Transplant at Apollo Hospitals, said that Apollo continues to set new benchmarks in transplant medicine through its extensive network of 28 hospitals across 15 states, state-of-the-art transplant ICUs, ECMO-supported critical care facilities, and comprehensive post-transplant care programs.


Speaking on the occasion, Tejasvi Rao Veerapalli, CEO, Apollo Hospitals Telugu States, emphasized the need for greater public awareness and active participation in organ donation programs to bridge the growing gap between organ demand and availability. He urged citizens to come forward and pledge organ donation, describing it as one of the greatest gifts that can save multiple lives.


Several senior specialists, including liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant surgeons and physicians, participated in the program and highlighted the critical role of organ donation in giving patients a second chance at life.


The event also featured addresses by Dr. A. Narendra Kumar, Director of Medical Education, Telangana, and Prof. James Neuberger, Associate Medical Director, Organ Donation and Transplantation, NHS Blood and Transplant, who shared insights on strengthening organ donation and transplant ecosystems through awareness, policy support, and community participation.


The program concluded with a collective call for increased awareness and commitment towards organ donation, reinforcing the message that every donor has the power to transform and save lives.
